"The initial care in A&E by ..."

About: Whiston Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

The initial care in A&E by the doctor was very good

What could be improved

The level care of my husband received while he was in the Observation ward, on A&E, was unsatisfactory. He was in with pancreatitis, a serious ailment. The doctor had instructed the nurses on the Obs ward to make sure my husband received at least 2 bags of saline in a couple of hours. When he had problems with his line, I asked the nurses 4 times to sort it out, everytime they said they would and nothing happened. They made us feel that we were an annoyance to them. In the end I spoke to the A&E doctor and he made them do it. My husband was without liquid for an hour and an half. Something which I think is unacceptable, they seemed to be too busy gossiping by the nurses station.
