What I liked

First contact was dealt with quickly in A&E

What could be improved

Subsequent treatment left a lot to be desired. My hubbie broke his hand. A&E nurse said there was not much they could do so they put a gauze bandage on it and sent him on his way. A Week later the hand was purple and extremely swollen and he was in a lot of pain. he went back. No sorry still nothing they could do. (no referral to fracture clinic or anything like that mentioned!) Went back a further two times over the next month each time in agony. Each doctor saying that the last one had done the wrong thing and giving him a different tpe of bandage but no real treatment and certainly no referral until he saw his GP who referred him to a consultant. Good old NHS choice though could only give him an appointment 8 weeks from the date he rang (convenient that the first available appt was on the deadline for being seen!) Anyway, after some months in agony, as the hand doesn't hurt any more my hibbie cancelled the consultant appt. But still we were not impressed at all by the aftercare. Patch you up (after a fashion) and send you on your way!
