"Inefficient"

Thank you for your comments, we always find it very useful to hear what our patients have to say regarding the service. We are sorry that you feel you did not receive a good service. I have discussed your comment with the lead Nurse for haematology and we feel that an explanation of how the service runs may be of assurance to you. You observed the Nurses sitting for approximately 10 minutes between each patient; during this time they are waiting for the results of blood tests to arrive back to clinic; it takes this time for the laboratory to process the result for the Doctor to see patients. Special treatment for a friend, some patients attend this clinic for many years and the staff develop really good relations with them so they may appear to be friends. On occasions when some patients arrive they will be feeling unwell and on clinical assessment they will be prioritised. We will share your comments with the haematology team and stress the importance of keeping patients informed of delays and working to time order; unless clinical need indicates.
