About: Medway Maritime Hospital

I was an inpatient in Medway (Ocelot ward) and cannot complain about the care I received. What seems clear to me is that the staff at Medway are working under the most awful and difficult conditions - the buildings are not fit for purpose. I cannot understand why the hospital has continued to expand on this site - surely it would make sense to build a new hospital away from a built up area and nearer the M2. Access by car is very difficult and parking is worse! I have experienced Maidstone hospital in the past and there access is so much easier! Plenty of parking and very close to major roads and also buses from the town. I am so sad that the staff at Medway are constantly being criticised - surely they deserve better buildings in which to do their very stressful jobs! Having said that a very dear friend of mine has had a bad experience just recently - she has waited one week for surgery on a broken leg. Thankfully she has now had surgery and is recovering. By the way - when I was an inpatient the food was terrible (why not invite James Martin to help?)
