"Forgotten patiant"

About: Epsom Hospital

5:10 in the morning. after coming down with a painful case of lower abdomen pain and other symptoms i made the decision at 3:00 in the morning to make a trip to the A&E department at epsom general hospital as the pain i was unbearable and could not wait to go to a doctor the following day. after explaining y symptoms i to the nurse at the desk i was then left on my own for over an hour and a half in pain and discomfort a freezing cold empty seating area and no information on when i would be seen to. the way i was treated and left in pain in the cold when i clearly came into the hospital to seek medical treatment as i felt i wouldn't be able to leave it until morning i left the hospital to get home and get ready to go to work and attend my local Gp witch i felt i was in to much pain to wait for over 2 hours ago. the staff were not only rude when i asked how long would be waiting but were aggressive and cursed multiple times at me.

Thank you for your feedback and very sorry to hear of your discomfort and of the treatment of our A&E staff. We have a waiting target of four hours in A&E and we have been pretty good at meeting this target in recent months. To help me to follow up this incident please can you call our patient advice and liaison team (PALS) on 020 8296 2508 or email pals@esth.nhs.uk. Further information is available on our website at www.epsom-sthelier.nhs.uk/pals. Joint Medical Director, Dr James Marsh
