(as the patient),

After suffering with chest pains, I was taken into the Southport & Formby District Hospital, where it was discovered that I had a heart problem. I was taken into A&E and then told to wait for results of an x-ray and tests. However, it was 5 hours before a doctor eventually returned with my results. The staff had been trying to get hold of a doctor, but none were available. This is not acceptable. I have spoken to the hospital regarding the fact that it is apparently understaffed.

Thank you for taking the time to post your experience and I am sorry it was not as good as you would have expected. Without knowing when you came into the A&E Department at Southport & Formby District General Hospital it is difficult to say exactly why you had to wait so long. There are many reasons why this could have happened. However, we do take these matters seriously and as you say you have spoken to the hospital, we will no doubt be looking into your particular experience.
