"My back injury"

About: South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust

(as the patient),

I was immobilised with severe back pain on the floor in my bedroom and, after talking to GP's and the NHS helpline, was advised to call an ambulance - this arrived very quickly once the call was made.

On arrival the guys were very professional and took exceptional care of me giving me as much pain relief as they could and eventually calling another team to help carry me out of the house - which was no small feat as I'm a big guy and the process made more difficult by some sharp turns on the stairs.

They swiftly took me to hospital and handed me over to the A & E team who sorted me out enough to be able to be driven home by a mate. As busy as the team (I think lead by Steve, but I was pretty out of it) was, they even stopped by to see how I was doing quickly as they were passing after dropping off their next patient.

All in all a very efficient and fantastically caring service and I just wanted to write and say thank you for your help that day.

Dear tarl

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I hope you are recovering well.

It is always rewarding to hear that our staff are continuing to provide excellent service to our patients when the need us most.

I would like to be able to pass your thanks onto the staff who came to your aid. In order to do this I will need to know the date and address that the ambulance attended. Could you please contact me, at your convenience, at laura.martin@swast.nhs.uk?

Kind regards

Laura
