"Great care - shame about the danger outside"

About: North Devon District Hospital

Great care with very courteous staff at A&E for my minor injury. Treated in timescale advertised. But do take a torch at night as many lights on way to car park did not work - even pay machine was in darkness as were the steps. If there were signs back to car park we couldn't see them so finished up walking in the roads.

Dear Brett

Many thanks for posting your comments on the website. I was very pleased to note you received good care during your visit to the Emergency department, and I have forwarded your positive comments on to the Service Manager so she can share them with the staff concerned, where I know they will be warmly received.

I was, however, concerned to learn that you had difficulties in navigating your way back to your car, due to the poor lighting. I have forwarded your feedback to the estates manager, so he can look into the situation and ensure the lighting is in full working order.

Many thanks once again.

Jayne

Dear Brett

I have contacted the Estates Maintenance officer who would like to thank you for your feedback.

He is very sorry that your experience around the site was a difficult one, and explains that unfortunately, there have been some difficulties in the last few weeks with regards the external lighting. The new Chemotherapy ground works have now began which has been the cause of the issues as when the contractors excavated the area, the street lighting cabling was damaged.

He advises the Maintenance team have been trying desperately to re-instate the lighting, and would like to assure you they have almost completed the works, and that the majority of the lighting is now working again.

Once again many apologies

Jayne
