"Excellent, outstanding service"

About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

I am sure compliments in the NHS are few these days as people usually only tend to write if things go wrong or their expectations are not met. But our experience was absolutely wonderful and our expectations exceeded. We attended Queens hospital in January '14 as my husband needed to be investigated for TIA. Our appointment was for 09.30 a.m. We were seen a bit later for which the consultant profusley apologised for (only 20 minutes late). Before the appointment my husband was seen by an HCA who was really lovely and she took his BP and weight etc. We were taken in to the consulting room where the consultant introduced himself and asked us to call him by his first name. He reassured us of a positive outcome but felt investigations were necessary. He then offered to see us again at 2.00 p.m. with the results of the tests or the gave us the option to wait for a letter (he made it clear that if anything was wrong he would ‘hunt us down’ lol!). We asked to come back at 2 for the results to avoid more worrying. We then went for a carotid doppler (10 min wait) we were then escorted to ECG (went straight in) then we were escorted round to radiology for a CT (15 min wait at the most). Absolutely brilliant. We then went back at 2 and saw the consultant who had all the results of the tests and he gave us the good news that all was well. Amazing! All done in one day, outstanding! We felt like we were treated like royalty, we were so impressed with the courtesy and kindness of the staff, especially the HCA and consultant. We were equally impressed with the efficiency of all the different resources we needed to access and the kind way they treated us. We would like to thank all concerned for making my husbands patient journey a positive experience. We cannot praise them enough.

I am very pleased to hear about your husband’s time spent in Neurology. Thank you for leaving your comment. Our staff in the department will be delighted to hear that you were very impressed, especially as you felt you were treated like royalty! Yours sincerely, Stephen Burgess Medical Director
