"Horton Maternity Unit and Peadiatric Department"

About: Horton General Hospital

Although I am delayed in giving my feedback as I gave birth to my daughter on the Royal baby day in 2013. I cannot thank you the staff and midwives of the maternity unit enough for their care and attention that they gave me during my labour and birth. We arrived later in the day after starting at home and the welcome to the unit was great and they were very quick to treat me with fluids and medication to make me feel better. Their reassurance and guidance through my time was fantastic. Due to things not going well the decision for a caesarean was made and again the medical team were calm and informative, and made the process as smooth as possible and we had a safe delivery. The care in the post natal ward was also personal and supportive. I did go home but due to complications with my wound I had to return to the unit for further support, as well as the attending the day unit. Although this was difficult at the time to return into the hospital for further treatment, the midwifery team were brilliant and made me feel reassured that I would be ok. I had to stay longer than planned and they my stay as pleasant as possible. They made sure that I had privacy and quite to get better and continue to bond with my baby while being in hospital. Again the surgical team were good in keeping me informed through treatment. I cannot praise the team for looking after my baby with her antibiotics and caring for her when I was unable to leave the ward. The treatment that my daughter had was good and any treatment that she had was without minimal distress, and she was calm throughout the process. I am glad that I chose to be cared for at the Horton Hospital due to the small unit and the personal service that you get. Thank you so much, and both me and my daughter are happy and healthy 7 months later.
