"Not as we expected"

About: Northwick Park Hospital

We recently had a baby in northwick park Hospital and the amount of inexperience and stereotypical staff in this hospital is appalling. My wife was in labour and came to this hospital few minute before she delivered. We were a located a young midwife who seem to have competed here studies in September. My wife was so much in pain and all the midwife could do was write her stuff without care. My wife suggested if she could go to the shower as that will help here ease. After few minutes she was in full blown labour and her water broke in the bath. She called for help and let us know that she's holding the babies head, I run into the bath and the midwife came after me, and immediately she realised she has no birth gear at all including gloves. She went back and by the time she came back I was hold my baby. She look startled and confused running up and down like headless chicken, we ask her to call for help. She then went back again and come with pair of scissors and two blastic clips to hold the ambilical code so as to cut in the middle. I ask her if I could cut and she said ok. I now realised how inexperienced she was and took over the situation, having saw how it's done in our perious kid. The after care was worse and by this time another woman arrived. Both her and the midwife got busy with my wife. While I was with the baby under the light she switched on. After hours I had to asked the midwife if she could look at the baby coz the light was beeping and flashing examine (or can't remember the word) the baby. She came with a weighing machine and weighed the baby and went back to my wife. No feeding or mother and baby contact for nearly 6 or so hours. For this reason my baby is still in the hospital with feeding issues, jaundice, dehydration and stuff. Later that day, I was asked leave as the visiting hours run out. When I came back the same day, My wife told me she was asked to work to the recovery room which was in a different placed although she ask for wheelchair as could could not stand properly. Absolute horror she was told 'mum ur ok walk, u have to walk otherwise u will not get a bed'. In the maternity wards, slightly different, the paediatrician were very good and did all they could for my baby and mother. However, there are few old nurses/health care assistants who were not as good. very rude, stereotypical, and actually ignored patients. I hope my baby and wife come out safe. Would not recommend this hospital for any care. Shame! Concerned parent.
