I realise that the work done by the majority of staff at both the Northern General and the Royal Hallamshire is good, but I was very disappointed at the treatment I received at the Northern General hospital. Having spent 8 days at the Hallamshire, where I was diagnosed with pneumonia and given the best care possible, I returned home with medication.
Unfortunately, I had to return to hospital (this time the Northern General) on 2 further occasions and in a great deal of pain. The care I received here was nothing short of disgusting. After being sent to a ward, I did not see a doctor until late on in the second day, and even then was only given pain relief. No explanation was given and I was dismissed again, much to the surprise of myself and the nurse who was treating me.
On the second occasion, I was moved from one bed to another in 3 different areas. There was no follow-up and only after getting very upset was I given access to a doctor. He tried to reassure me and promised that he would get back to me but, before this could happen, I was sent home again. I know beds are needed, but surely patient care should come first? I hope I do not get sent to the Northern General again.
