I saw an ENT doctor today at outpatients. He didn't listen when I tried to explain my symptoms, he insisted on performing a procedure without fully explaining it to me, and I felt rushed and pressurised to agree to it. He took no notice of my poor health or existing medical conditions (Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and POTS) and as a result I suffered severe pain and side effects from the Lidocaine spray he administered. It triggered my POTS symptoms, I became tachycardic, dizzy and I collapsed. I was told he would not be doing the procedure. The nurse said I had to have a barium meal swallow test at Bassetlaw but I have no idea why. I was told the doctor would see me again in six weeks. I left without making the appointment. I will not be treated with such disrespect and I shall be making a formal complaint. I am still suffering from the side effects six hours later. I still have severe dry mouth, slow healing of a dental infection, I have swollen glands, recurrent fever and I am no closer to finding out the cause, no thanks to Retford Hospital.
