After some long standing health problems I went to visit my GP, who took some bloods and referred me to the endocrinologist. The consultant is exactly the sort of person you want looking after you if you're in my situation. On the first visit he explained what had been done and what the results may mean, gave me a tentative diagnosis and arranged testing to confirm what he suspected. I had my bloods taken within 10 minutes and the nurse that did it was lovely, which is a help for someone who's not a fan of needles like me. The second visit was just as pleasant. They were very sensitive in delivering my diagnosis, he clearly explained the plan of action going forward and seemed to have lots of time to answer my questions; it didn't feel like we we're holding him up or we were just 1 of many patients that day, he made me feel like he had genuine time for me. My diagnosis could have major implications for my life, and he explained what I could do to still be able to carry on as normal and he seemed very keen to help me in any way he could. He even mentioned that if I had any questions that I hadn't thought of, or needed to talk to him, I could send him an email. I had to have yet more blood (6 syringes full) taken and once again the nurse was lovely, and future tests in hospital over at Glenfields have been arranged. Overall, a very very positive experience, I feel like there is someone out there looking after me.
"Wonderful team!"
