My Dad has been resident in Ashby Hospital for almost 4 weeks, after 2 weeks in Burton Hospital. His care in Burton was superb, and I was worried about the transfer, but no need, the staff in Ashby, without exception, have been excellent. Everyone is clearly highly skilled, up to date, compassionate, kind, and have taken excellent care of him, and my Mum, in every way. We have been consulted, listened to, treated with real respect, and staff have been very aware of all issues relating to my father, his needs, his care, and his best interests. There is warmth and humour here, great healers in their own right, and patients with dementia are treated so well, the extra work they create for staff viewed as 'not a problem', and their preferences carefully addressed. I can't thank these very special people enough, the culture in this hospital is exactly what it should be across the NHS.
