"Ambulance crew spared a hospital visit for my wife"

My wife was woken at midnight in February with an attack of acute pancreatitis. She had had attacks previously and was advised to admit herself to hospital immediately if she had another attack.

The ambulance arrived within about 15 minutes of the call, but the weather outside had caused chaos and a large pine tree was blocking the M40 making the transfer to Oxford JR unfeasible. The ambulance crew instead treated her in situ and were able to administer an intravenous line that allowed for IV paracetemol and 1000ml of fluids.

Searching through the medicines my Wife had had that day we eventually found a eucalyptus chest rub that she had used to alleviate her underlying cold, but I spotted that this was a sesame oil based product and she is intolerant to opiates. Having identified the cause and having treated her immediate pain she was actually able to get to sleep after about two hours work by the crew. She was sore the next day, but had been spared a hospital stay on a Friday night which myself and my children will be forever thankful for.

Not sure if it's possible to pass on our thanks to the crew or not, but they were based out of High Wycombe and one was an ex-military policeman and the other was on supply and usually works in the Bristol area.
