I unfortunately broke my leg whilst slipping on ice, i live in shropshire but had to be taken by ambulance to the Alexandra Hospital. I was very upset and emotional as i was very ashamed if u like of my size and was worried because I was totally in the hands of strangers. the ambulance people treatment with such respect and never once made me feel uncomfortable abt my weight, i was worried out them having to help me on to stretcher, i neednt have they were wonderful, arriving at the hospital i was treated with dignity care and empathy, i had broken my leg and was sent to a ward to await surgery, due to a blood clotting disorder i have i had to wait a while for my blood levels to be normal before surgery, The surgeon performed the surgery on my leg he was so respectful and i felt that i was treated if u like, like i was his only patient, he explained everything to me what it would be like following surgery, how long it would take to heal, everything i needed to know he told me, the nurses, cleaners physio were all wonderful and very professional, I was very pleased to how i was treated at this hospital. id just like to add that i had my 2 children at the Alexandra Hospital some 25 and 23 years ago, and i was treated very well then too.
