Starting my therapy scared me nearly as much as my anxiety did. I felt I was accepting a problem that for so long I denied. Trying to fix myself only by blocking things out lead to an overwhelming build up to which I had no choice but to ask for help.
Despite reluctance I knew from my first session I had made the right decision. My therapist (Elaine) was so understanding and listened carefully without judgement whilst I talked about my anxiety that for so long I have used my best efforts to hide - fearing non-sufferers would find me crazy.
My sessions taught me so much about my anxiety and the different ways I could approach it - some scary but given enough time the changes are amazing.
If I could speak to others considering help I'd say go for it, this could be your chance to learn and escape.
By accepting my anxiety and trusting the small changes rather than looking for a quick fix has helped me to where I am today.
