"Appointment for daughter in Ophthalmology..."

We had an appointment for our daughter in the Ophthalmology Department on Tuesday 28th January, 2014. On arrival, and not having a clue where to go, the ladies in the Visitor Information were extremely helpful and immediately directed us to the correct place. On entering, there was a small queue at Reception, but we were dealt with very quickly and efficiently. As we took our seats in the Waiting Area, the notice boards were clearly signposted to the effect that there may be some delays as a some of the Doctor's were off. We were appreciative of this information and settled in for a long wait - however almost immediately we were called by a Triage Nurse who booked my daughter in and did some initial sight tests with her. She also apologised in advance for any delays, which was very nice of her. Despite expecting to be waiting for ages, we were actually called by the Doctor within 35 minutes - which I was pleasantly surprised about. The consultation was textbook - the consultant was informative, reassuring and extremely informative about my daughter's eye condition and we left feeling that we now how the information that we needed to deal with her condition going forward. Despite the volume of patients in the waiting area, and the fact that they were at least one Doctor short, at no point did we feel rushed or that the consultant was trying to 'move us on' as quickly as possible - far from it, she answered our questions with patience, diligence and good grace. Overall our experience was a very positive one and we would not hesitate to fully endorse your Hospital at the highest level.
