"Still waiting to see a consultant after 2 years"

About: Chapel Allerton Hospital / Rheumatology Specialist services / Musculoskeletal and rehabilitation service West Yorkshire

(as the patient),

Visited Drs to see about having spur of bone removed growing into ankle joint. Was sent to Rheumatology dept at hospital, questioned this and said I should be at a Orthopaedics hospital. They didn't listen, so spent about a year visiting to be told at the end you have a bone spur in your ankle and you shouldn't have been sent here you need to see a Orthopedic consultant!?

Revisited Drs who then sent me to Beeston Hill Community Ctr MSK dept who told me you need to see a orthopaedic consultant and we will refer you. This was late April last year.

Still haven't heard a thing since then, so after nearly 2 yrs of actually asking to see a consultant I still have not had the pleasure.

Because I had keyhole surgery for this problem before and was advised it would need doing again in the future I took all the right steps, only to find out that so far it has been a waste of time.

Dear streetbob

We are very sorry to hear about your experience. Please contact the Trust's Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 0113 2067168 or email patient.relations@leedsth.nhs.uk and they will be able to answer your query about whether there is a current referral to Orthopaedics in our system.

With kind regards
