"Emergency department"

About: Royal Shrewsbury Hospital

I had to go via ambulance to the ED at RSH following surgery on my knee as my anterior cruciate ligament ruptured. I was in tremendous pain on arrival and they ensured I had adequate pain relief before being examined by a doctor and all the staff were polite and professional at all times. I work in the department and I felt proud to work alongside such caring helpful nurses. They liaised with my surgeon at RJAH prior to my discharge and ensured I had adaquate analgesia at home prior to discharge . They also arranged outpatient appt for me and escorted me safely into a car once my treatment had been completed. I was seen by a locum doctor who was fantastic . I could not fault the care I had in ED at RSH and felt the standard of care was excellent .

Dear Karen Thank you so much for sharing your experience, particularly so soon after what must have been a painful and anxious time. I guess working in the NHS it is easy for us to be its harshest critics so it is really great to hear that you found the standard of your care to be excellent. Whenever we receive feedback via NHS Choices - good or bad - we share this with the team using a Comment Card, so I will be making sure that your kind words are delivered either by me or by one of my colleagues on the Board or Executive Team this week. Please accept my very best wishes for your continued recovery. Adrian Osborne, Communications Director
