I went for my routine mammogram on 18/12/2013, I was recalled on 2/1/2014 where a repeat mammogram was done, I then had a scan where a lump was discovered it was approx 8mm in size and I was asked if I agreed to a biopsy being taken. The biopsy was taken and I was given an appointment for 9/1/2014 where I would receive my results from the biopsy. I went back on 9/1/2014 where I was informed that I had breast cancer, this was given by the consultant and he informed me of what was going to happen next.. I was then taken to a more comfortable room where I was introduced to a breast care nurse, who gave me all the relevent information that I needed about my care plan and a copy of my report, before leaving I was given a date for my surgery which would be 29/1/2014. I had a lumpectomy and a senitel lobe biopsy in the Treatment Centre. I arrived at 0730 on the day again excellent service from everyone in the Treatment Centre. I left at 15.30 that day with an appointment for the 13/1/2014 for the results of the surgery. This was a very anxious waiting time for me and my family. I went back and saw the consultant who informed me that he had removed all the cancer and there was no cancer in my lymph nodes. He then told me I would be receiving Radiotherapy and Hormone Treatment. I now await an appointment for Oncology and dates for my next course of treatment. Very impressed with how quick this was all done from diagnoses to surgery. I would like to thank the consultant and all the staff in the Breast Care Unit & Treatment Centre for being so professional and the team work ,this is an excellent delivery service. Also every appointment that I had was always on time. I am not back to see the consultant until February 2015 but if my further treatment goes as well as this I will be more than happy. If you have a genuine emergency Kettering Hospital always deliver excellent care. I would recommend this hospital.
