"took quick to stick on medication"

About: Cumberland Infirmary

my daughter was admitted on 6/2/14 with ??seizures I stated the episodes were more like faints - neuro doc came to see her for 10 minutes diagnosed as epileptic and started her on strong anit epileptic medication !! Dr was about to start her on dose suitable for being 60kg >> my daughter is 42kg !!!!!! which I quickly pointed out ! No EEG has taken place ( we are awaiting appointment for one at RVI) I don't feel we were listened to with regards to symptoms and now my daughter has a label of epilepsy ! My daughter spent 5 nights at the hospital. Far too quick to diagnose and medicate without all facts ! We will be challenging decision at out patients appointment as soon as this is arranged . The ward staff on the other hand were lovely and very supportive towards my daughter who was very upset at her "diagnosis"

We are really sorry to hear about your daughter's recent experience ,at what must have been a worrying time for you both - we hope she is recovering well now? Thank you for taking the time to get in touch and share your concerns with us. We would clearly like to learn more about what happened and would welcome you to get in touch with our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) team at the Cumberland Infirmary to explain your experience in more detail. You can reach the PALS team on 01228 814008 between 8.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday, or by sending us an email to PALSCIC@ncuh.nhs.uk. I notice that your daughter is currently an outpatient with us and we hope this hasn't caused either you or your daughetr to lose confidence in the quality of care our teams are providing to you. Please do get in touch with us via the PALS office as soon as possible so that we can ease your concerns. Thank you once again
