My 89 year old mother attended the A&E in January with a UTI, while being moved by two nurses from a trolley to a bed her left arm was broken. My mother is left handed. My mother was operated on and put in plaster from her shoulder to her finger tips. After discharge she had to go to a care home because she is unable to do anything.
She now has an infection in her arm which has resulted in being back in hospital. They are going to operate on my mother and her left arm is going to be amputated. My mother lived alone before this incident and is now in a lot of pain, has lost all her confidence and is in a very poor state.
She is giving up on living. No one from the A&E or hospital has contacted her to apologise or anything.
I thought hospitals were a place you went to get better not to come home in a worse state.
It would be nice for an investigation to ensure no other elderly person goes through the same as my mum.
