"Waste of over 2 hours!"

About: West Middlesex University Hospital

I waited over 2 hours to get seen for an eye infection. I was told that I would be prescribed some eye drops, then told did you know you can actually buy these over the counter before the Trainee Nurse had even looked at my eye. I then asked if she was going to actually examine my eye. After examination I was then told that I now need steriod drops but she could not prescribe them, I needed to go to the Eye Hospital. Even though the website says they deal with eye infections. Not a satisfied patient!

Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the care you received at the UCC. Without knowing the exact details of your case it is difficult to give a full response - generally our clinical staff are able to assess and treat most minor eye conditions, however in some cases a patient will need a specialist opinion from an ophthalmologist. In these cases the patient would then be referred to the local eye hospital. We would ask you to contact us so we can investigate and look into this further on 0800 953 0363 or email pals.hrch@nhs.net Tom Penman Urgent Care Services Group Manager
