For years I wondered about using the advocacy service and then last year about 6-8 months ago I decided to give it a go.

I found that they listened to me without judging me and gave me a voice to be able to say what I wanted and needed. The advocates are very helpful in giving advice, supporting me at meetings, helping to chase up letters that may have gone missing and making phone calls on my behalf.

I cannot praise them enough. No one should be afraid to go to these people, they are there to help you and they do. If you are having problems with your doctor or with psychiatrists they really help, the psychiatrists really listen to them.

Before using the Advocacy Service I did not have a care plan but now I do. They gave me a voice and the confidence to say what I needed
