I was taken to A&E for symptoms of what I thought was a chest infection, after seeing a family member suffer with chest infections regularly. I found it difficult to breathe and had been coughing up blood. I saw the doctor quite quickly which I was satisfied with her timely manner. I was then left freezing cold in pain to wait for blood tests results. When the doctor returned and explained it was not a chest infection I was relieved. However I still had some sort of illness or infection which was not addressed. I was simply told to go home and use steam. I fail to understand what that meant or even means now? She walked off with no further advice. Was I suppose to reside in a sauna until my symptoms cleared? Was I supposed to shower for 30 minutes every 2 hours to build up steam. Part of me wants to laugh. However I am still extremely angry over this doctor's lack of treatment. Especially upon having to suffer like this for a further 5 days unable to sleep or eat. I was finally able to get an appointment with a GP whom I had never seen before who prescribed me antibiotics straight away. His question is the same as mine. Why didn't the A&E doctor do this in the first instance?
