I was referred to St Richard's as my local, Pembury, Hospital do not carry out the TEMS procedure. At , almost the last minute, I was re-located in Wittering Ward. There seemed to be some initial confusion at first but from the moment that I wheeled out of the ward and then returned to the ward post-op until I left a few days later I have nothing but praise for all the staff that I had dealings with. As a life-long devout coward who has never had to stay in hospital I was feeling apprehensive to say the least but I was so well looked after that I forgot to get wound up! Everybody but everybody was polite and friendly and treated me as a person at any time of the day and night. The consultant and his team were terrific and I never thought that visiting a surgical theatre ( as the main attraction) could be (almost) fun, all thanks to the nursing staff. Returning to the ward I was so well looked after by all, the nursing staff, the phlebotomists, and the young lady who always brought me a cup of coffee in the mornings, it was only a pity that I could not persuade her to come home with me! Even the cleaning staff had time for a smile and a (quick) chat. For obvious reasons I have no great desire to repeat the experience but should I have to then I want the same staff again. Many, many Thanks. Tom Marten
