"Worthing a/e"

About: Worthing Hospital

I tended worthing a/e on the 9/02/14,i had burst the skin on my ring finger,i booked in and sat there and sat there in agony,no one appeared to being tenderd, the assesment nurse was just walking around the ward,i was over 2hours sat there! As i remember from the 70s, this situation is the same?nobody appears to care,!eventually i went to the main desk and expressed i was leaving as i was so uncomfortable in pain, there was no feelings from the receptionist, like i didnt exist! No offer of help nor an explanation,i was just a number in the department,im discusted that im treated in this manner,i felt degraded and alone,id never attend this department ever again,

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are very sorry to hear about your experience in the A/E department. Our staff are taught that we must treat our patients with dignity and respect at all times and we are concerned to hear that this was not your experience. Whilst the department can be very busy at times and waiting is then unavoidable we should have taken the time to address your pain and assured you that you were not forgotten. The A/E matron has been given a copy of this feedback and will share with her team at their next meeting to ensure that they understand the impact on you. Please accept our apologies.
