I have recently spent 5 nights on Fielding Ward, and felt I had to write a review of my experience. I had previously seen Fielding almost 2 years ago, and there is simply no comparison. Standards have risen dramatically in that time, particularly in nursing care. I especially liked the 'mobile nursing station' in each bay, meaning that the nursing staff are back in the bays with the patients, not always having to go back to the main nurses' station, away from their charges. Every couple of hours I was spoken to, checked and assessed by a nurse to make sure I was all right - pain free, comfortable and adequately fed and watered. This point of contact meant it was much easier to build up a trusting relationship and meant I had the opportunity to ask any questions or voice any concerns. It was also the little things - a towel given out to each patient after breakfast meant that I could go and shower without having to hound some already busy member of staff to ask for one. Every single member of staff I came across was polite, friendly and welcoming. Tea and coffee were available at times other than the main rounds, the food was excellent, and fruit available, too - a nice touch. This ward is completely different from how I knew it before, and I feel that as a patient, I truly was the top priority. Congratulations to every single member of staff on there, for making it so - I know what hard work that is. It has paid off, I can promise you.
