"Care by the stroke unit the- Richard Stevens Unit"

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford)

My mother Florence Joan Ingle sadly died after 10 days in hospital having suffered a stroke. She was in the Richard Stevens Unit. My family and I were impressed with the dedication of the the unit registrar who worked tirelessly, on the night she was admitted and then the subsequent days. The nurses were always friendly and supportive. Mum always looked comfortable and well cared for despite the seriousness of her condition. At the end we were given information in a sensitive way by the consultant and sister and Mum was allowed to pass away in a quiet room with us by her bedside. The care of the staff on the Richard Stevens Unit was a fitting tribute to Richard as I knew him well and he too was very professional, dedicated and kind. I also lost my husband 2 years ago and he too had amazing treatment from the A and E unit, before he was transferred to Canterbury. I want to thank the ambulance service for both my husband and mothers emergency admissions they were calm knowledgeable and reassuring. I remember the para medic was amazing on the night my Mum was admitted in the middle of an awful storm on 1.1.14. I was very distressed and he was there for me. What a credit you all are to the national health service! Many heartfelt thanks
