I had our local Doctor at Wellside Surgery come out to see me as I had a very painful lower tummy, the doctor examined me and said that I would be given a referal to a specialist,my doctor saw me on the Friday by the Monday I had an appointment to see a Consultant in the new treatment centre. The Consultant was a charming man and put my mind at ease, he suggested I had a colonoscopy a wait of two or three weeks max I went yesterday to the new treatent center up on the lift and was met by a nurse who had in the past cared for me after a second knee replacement in Birch ward, she was so kind then and was yesterday too, I was taked to my room where I was prepped. The Endoscopist introduced himself, I signed the consent form and he told me what he was going to do, he smiled and said "I was first on his list and I would not be waiting long" about ten minutes later two nurses came and collected me. I was treated with respect, was given an injection to make me sleepy and gas and air just incase I needed it the two nurses were most kind to me putting me "at ease" It was all done, but as the Endoscopist could not get to the "bend in my bowel he suggested I have a barium enema, as I settled down on the bed back in "my room" I was given a choice of sandwich and a hot or cold drink, a cheese sandwich and a cup of tea went down very well I may add, I was given a perscription to get the get the required bowel preparation so now I await my app for the barium enema. The hospital is spotless with caring staff, but I also try to be nice with the staff too, they are doing a job and as far as I am concerned a damn good job. So thanks to all of the staff at Hinchingbrooke Hospital "top marks from me". Sandy Speechley, Sawtry. hospital no 083400
