"The care I received at St Marys ..."

What I liked

The care I received at St Marys was exceptional. I was supported, encouraged and do not think better care could have been given. I had some complications after the birth of my son and breastfeeding did not come easily to either of us. The midwives and all support staff were amazing and gave me every assistance at whatever time of day or night and helped us make the best possible start. Breastfeeding was not 'pushed on me' but my decision to succeed was supported even when it was really hard. The whole process from an emergency scan at 8 weeks to final discharge was fantastic and I can't praise the staff enough. When I experienced complications immediately after birth the doctors and theatre staff explained everything so clearly and really eased my fears and made a very difficult few hours a lot more bearable for me and my family. The treatment and care I received was given with our whole family in mind, including the needs of my husband who felt comfortable asking questions and for advice. I received additional support from the Physiotherapist team who were fantastic and diagnosed the issue quickly and effectively. All the staff worked so well together, communication team to team and shift to shift was excellent in providing great continuity of care.

What could be improved

The new hospital will be great as the facilities will replace some of the more dated ones like the toilets etc.

Anything else?

All staff deserve recognition for their hard work including the support staff who take the time to go the extra mile when the midwives are pushed to their limits due to the high demands put on them.
