"My Recent Heart Attack"

About: Kettering General Hospital

Whilst visiting my wife's sister and husband In Litchborough Northamptonshire I suffered a heart attack after having Angina for 20 years. I was taken to Northampton General for a blood test and then straight on to KGH where was I surrounded by the consultant and his very capable team. The team fitted a stent into my heart before I had time to think about it with no fuss nor pain ( I actually thought they had done the preparation for me to go into theatre to have the stent fitted) but it was already done. I was then taken down to Oakley Ward CCU and installed in Bay 2. The ward staff took over making me feel comfortable and amongst friends, this continued without let-up, until being discharged 5 days later. The ward was kept immaculately clean throughout, the food was plentiful, well presented and a pleasure to eat. Tea and coffee or cold drinks were available throughout the day and night if needed. The consultant was very approachable but forthright, on his visits with his students when he asked questions of them you could sometimes see brains turning to mush Not withstanding the reason I was in hospital it was a pleasure to spend time with these people.
