"After receiving such excellent and outstanding care, the discharge process was extremely disappointing and inadequate"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

Emergency care in A&E was brilliant - the specialist cardiology nurse explained everything she was doing and was very calm and reassuring during a very frightening experience.

The male staff nurse on MEAU was excellent in the care he provided. He was efficient, calm and had an wonderful bedside manner with not just myself but all of the patients under his care. He explained everything he was doing and why.

The junior and senior doctors were brilliant too. They explained each test that I had been given and what each result meant. They were patient, calm and very professional. I felt in very safe hands under their care.

All staff I encountered were courteous, efficient and professional - cleaners, catering staff, nurses and doctors.

Unfortunately, my discharge was very poor. I waited nearly 7 hours for test results that I was told would only take 2 hours. I was discharged without seeing a doctor at 11 pm at night. There were no discharge documents, medications, diagnosis or advice on what to do next. I was advised my discharge documents would be sent onto my GP - this has still not been done. I have no idea whether I need medications or any follow-up care.

After receiving such excellent and outstanding care, the discharge process was extremely disappointing and inadequate.
