"A DVT with Bilateral PE's made easier by RFH Staff..."

I cannot find adequate words to thank your staff at the RFH, especially at A&E and in Ward 8 North, for everything they have recently done for me. On 1.1.14 when I came to A&E with a throbbing leg and temperature, I was first seen by Triage. A doctor treated me. He was very kind and calmed me down.. He checked me out and gave me a D-Dimer blood test. The Scanners were closed, so he booked a Doppler for the next day. He immediately treated me for a DVT with Tinzaparin which meant that if I did have a clot and if it had travelled to my lungs (which it had), I was covered for any danger that a DVT could cause. In short, he saved my life and for that I will always be grateful. Another doctor came to assess whether to admit me - he put me at ease. His registrar examined me and they decided to admit me. I was taken to Ward 8 North, where I was treated amazingly. I had a Doppler, which confirmed a clot from my groin, right down to below the knee. I continued with the Tinzaparin and then started taking Warfarin. The Consultant is amazing as is his secretary, someone to cheer you up when you feel unwell. Other doctors requested a Scan of my lungs, which showed bilateral PE's. I was supposed to be discharged on Friday, but I stayed another 4 days, which in hindsight was the right thing even though I did not think so at the time. It was my Sabbath and everyone was understanding towards me and my religion. I was discharged on Monday by a member of staff, who took the time to explain everything to me. i had an abdominal CT scan and mammogram. The PACE team, who treated me at home when I was discharged, were reassuring. I started the Warfarin clinic experience - explained everything to me about DVT's and how to manage the condition. I started getting short of breath and a swollen leg and came to A&E. I was seen by a member of staff who immediately took my blood (no bruising). A doctor competently alleviated any fears of a further clot. Two members of staff are experts on support tights- so helpful with a good sense of humour. Another member of staff expertly did the Doppler. Another doctor who was very thorough, sent me to a Haematologist, to discuss my erratic Warfarin levels. Staff are so curtious at the Lyndhurst rooms. I saw a brilliant Cardiologist - I had an echocardiogram- he put my mind at rest.
