"My recent treatment for gallstones - Ward 16"

About: Freeman Hospital

I found all staff to be friendly, helpful, caring and patient! I am completely satisfied with the treatment I received for a Bile duct blockage. However it was the treatment which I observed that a 91 year old gentleman received, that most impressed me! He appeared, to me, to be a lost cause because of a most severe chest infection but two nurses in particular fought all night to save him. He was uncooperative and nipped and punched them as they struggled to clear his airways and persuade him to receive lifesaving oxygen. In any other walk of life I'm sure his behaviour would not have been tolerated! What an eye-opener! Although I still need to have my Gallbladder removed to complete my treatment, I am greatly reassured by my experience so far!

Thank you for your kind comments posted on NHS Choices following your recent stay on Ward 16 at the Freeman Hospital. These have been passed onto the staff on ward 16 who will be greatly encouraged by your remarks. Thank you for the observations you made about how our staff worked hard to meet the needs of patients on the ward. We wish you well for your future treatment
