"My wife had an emergency C-section ..."

About: Princess Royal University Hospital (Orpington)

(as a relative),

What I liked

My wife had an emergency C-section to deliver our son. The care she received was excellent in all respects. At all times I felt assured and confident that she was in excellent hands. The midwifery staff and doctors worked well together and helped us to understand what was going on at all times. Hats off to you all!

What could be improved

One midwife on the maternity ward had a questionable attitude, giving me grief about where to put a bag (!) after a very traumatic experience; she would benefit from some customer relations training.

As a father, I felt rather abandoned as (since my wife was under a General Anesthetic) I was not allowed into theatre. I was alone for these 30 or so minutes, which were the longest of my life! I realise that staff are needed elsewhere, but just being stuck on a chair in a corridor is not really acceptable.
