"Fantastic care following cardiac arrest"

About: Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital

On the evening of Saturday 18th January my husband was admitted to the NNUH following a cardiac arrest at our home in Wisbech. On arrival (I had travelled in the ambulance with him ) I was immediately greeted by the lady leading the PCI team who explained what would be happening. Another member of staff took me to a quiet room near to the Cath Lab and gave me some light refreshments. The other members of our immediate family were brought to me when they arrived and also looked after. After Pete's procedure we were allowed to see him and stay as long as we liked. A lovely nurse explained what would happen over the following 24 hours. She then gave me the ITU contact details and said I was welcome to call her and ask any questions or see how Pete was at any time of the night. I called at 7.10 the mext morning and she gave me a detailed update. When we visited at 2pm the next day another lovely nurse explained that Pete had woken up early and that he was suffering short term memory loss but this would pass. Pete was then moved to the CCU and subsequently Kilverstone Ward, all staffed by lovely helpful people. I would like to offer my thanks you all the staff on the PCI team, ITU, Coronary Care and Kilverstone Wards for the fantastic care Pete received.

Thank you for your kind comments which have been passed onto the Clinical Director of Cardiology, CCU, Kilverstone and ITU Sisters/Charge Nurses and the senior matron for Cardiology. I am pleased to hear that your husband was cared for well and that the staff also looked after you at what must have been a very stressful time. I hope your husband is recovering well.
