"Maternity"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske)

I had my baby girl on the 17th December 2013. I don't usually write reviews but thought I needed to in this case. My care on the delivery suite was brilliant, the midwife who looked after me made me feel totally at ease and really helped me through my labour. I had been panicking about the care I would receive after reading other reviews. there was no need for this. However after 4 days at home I had to go into the delivery suite to be checked over and once again I received fantastic care and could not fault the midwife who saw me. However I wouldn't of had to go back into hospital if the community midwife had come out to see me sooner. Because this is my second child i only received two visits from the community midwife one on day 5 after the baby and one on day 10. I feel this is no where near enough. There is a telephone number you can ring for support however they are reluctant to come out to actually see you and trying to describe symptom's over the phone is not easy. I feel something needs to be done about this, i feel like i wasted the hospitals time by going in the second time (however the midwife assured me this wasn't the case) the community midwives should be given more support to visit new mums more often than they are doing.
