Our Daughter was admitted on 3 separate occasions due to severe glandular fever and various complications. We have to say that the care that she received from the ENT Team and nurses on ward 10 was very good. They were attentive, caring and very patient. Her operation was done promptly and with a very good outcome. Our only complaint is that the ENT department closes down at weekends and all of the patients are transferred to Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham. Heartlands is a completely different set-up. The nursing staff there are not very attentive, medication was given hours later that requested by the doctor's and our daughter even missed a meal, as she was asleep. No-one bothered to wake her up and we had to bring a meal in for her. We strongly feel that the ENT department at Walsall Manor should remain open at weekends. The treatment at Heartlands was not good and transporting poorly patients, particularly following surgery, is not ideal at all. The care provided at Walsall Manor Hospital was far far better.
"We can't fault the ENT Team here....."
