"My scheduled gyne op"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

I was scheduled for a minor op on the 17th in the sunderland day centre was told to be there by 12.30 of which I arrived at 12 booked in and told to take a seat . After 2 hours of sitting there and other patients arriving later and being seen straightaway I was not happy eventually I was the last person sitting there waiting to be called . No one came and explained why I had to wait so long eventually after 2.5 hrs I saw a nurse who said the dr was only just doing her rounds before theatre and I was last on list my reply was why was I left sat waiting so long , and why could this not have been explained on arrival . Was told my op would not go ahead till tea time or early evening . I was very anoid at this so asked to be rescheduled has I had enough of sitting around to be told another few hours I would be waiting . if this was the case why did I have to be there at 12.30 ?? Also I have tried to contact Dr watsons secretary about the rescheduling as I was told my op had to be done asap and still no one has replied to me . I am in pain and need to get this sorted it is not good to be left sitting hours with out being informed of the situation and having fasted as well . please can some one get this reschedule sorted .

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. When booked in for a procedure in the Sunderland Day Centre patients are advised to arrive at 7.30am for a morning procedure or at 12.30pm for a procedure booked for the afternoon. These are simply arrival times, and not the time at which a procedure is going to take place. I am sorry if this was not communicated to you and as a result, caused you some distress. Dr Watson’s secretary was unfortunately unwell and off work for a few days and therefore that is why you did not receive a response promptly, I am sorry about that. However I believe she has since been in touch with you and another admission date has been made. If you would like to discuss this further please do get in touch.
