"Thought I was having a heart attack"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

In my opinion the single most important aspect of care rests in the skill and compassion of the staff. The nurses and doctors I met were understanding, sympathetic, and although extremely busy, most concerned about my situation and other aspects of my health.

They even picked up a high cholesterol count, which I had not expected, and which I assume was not related to my condition. I have taken steps to influence my lifestyle, including better diet and exercise. This is an added bonus!

What could have been better was the wait to be seen. However, I believe that, like most people, I am tolerant of delays if there is good reason. I seem to have picked an extremely busy day!

I feel very positive about my care, and reassured that when I need attention, that I will be in safe hands

Dear Pedro1

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience - it is very much appreciated and we are glad that you felt very pleased with the care provided by our cardiology team.

I am sorry to hear that there was a delay in being seen, if you would like to forward your contact details to me at Maxine.May@sash.nhs.uk then we will look into the reasons behind this and get back to you very shortly.

Kind regards

Update posted by Pedro 1 (the patient)

Hi Maxine

I don't really need a reason. I was told that the level of patients was exceptional on that day by staff, and I'm inclined to believe them! More to the point, they did a great job. I had a seizure and felt rotten last year, and the treatment I had then was pretty amazing too. What a great bunch of people! Keep it going.......
