My 26 year old son was admitted to Forth valley hospital to have a proctectomy completion operation.
He has severe learning difficulties, ADHD, autism and Tourettes. Getting him to the hospital was going to prove very problematic as he doesn't like strange people, places or to be touched. I enlisted the help of the learning disabilities nurse Lindsey Orr. She was wonderful and set up a plan for my son's arrival. without her help things could've been a disaster.
The anaesthetist Euan Jack was brilliant at listening to the problems that would arise getting my son ready for his operation. Finding a solution that caused no stress.
The surgeon Mr Euan Mcdonald did a great job of the surgery even managing keyhole so there were less after care problems.
Finally the staff in ward B11 were outstanding in care and attention, making my son feel at ease, making him laugh and making his stay in hospital as stress free as possible.
Without all these marvellous people my son would have been traumatised and would never have settled.
All this made my life as his mother and full time carer easier, as I could go home each night and not worry about my son.
I have nothing but praise for all the people dealing with my son. They are doing a marvellous job and I thank you all.
