About: Harrogate District Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was on Wensleydale ward following a broken leg and subsequent operation to pin the fracture. The staff operating in A&E, radiology and the consultants/surgeons were first class, absolutely superb. What a contrast to the unprofessional, unhelpful and downright incompetant staff operating in the Wensleydale Ward for the time following my operation. Admittedly it was around christmas time, but the nurses were far more interested in parties and ending work, than patient care. A quite shocking example of NHS care.

What could be improved

Something needs to be done about the professionalism and morale of the staff on Wensleydale wing.

Dear Matthew

Thank you for taking the time to post comments on the Choices website regarding your experience at Harrogate District Hospital. Whilst it is pleasing to hear you had a good experience in terms of your contact with staff in A&E, radiology and the surgical team with your consultant, I am sorry that you felt the standards of nursing care on Wensleydale ward did not meet your expectations.

The trust always appreciates feedback and I will certainly ensure your comments are shared with the respective teams for both feedback, learning and for making any relevant improvements to the patient experience at our hospital.

Kind regards

Gillian Neild, Head of Communications
