"Coronary Care Unit - Brilliant!"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske)

I can only comment on the Coronary Care Unit where I recently spent 4 days from 7th January until 11th January 2014 after suffering a severe heart attack. All the doctors, nurses and other staff who looked after me during my stay were absolutely brilliant - very professional, caring and friendly so much so I didn't really want to leave. Everything was explained to me so that I was always aware of what was going on and the reasons why. The ward was spotlessly clean, nice and warm and the food was excellent so much so that I really looked forward to choosing my meals each day. As I was rushed in in the clothes I was wearing, pyjamas, pants, toothbrush, tooothpaste, razor and shaving cream were all provided. It is to my regret that because of all the recent adverse publicity regarding NHS hospitals, especially in regard to the treatment of elderly patients, together with my ignorance of modern techniques and procedures, I did not ring 999 when I should have done when I first had the attack. By delaying the call, unneccessary damage was done to my heart, which possibly could have been prevented. If I had known then what I know now, I would have been in like a shot. Based on my experience, I would thoroughly recommend the Coronary Care Unit at the Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske).
