"I had a very positive experience ..."

About: Castle Hill Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I had a very positive experience as a patient recently.

A week prior to my operation I attended a pre-assessment clinic. The staff were experienced and knowledgeable and I felt well prepared for my surgery. I was given very helpful written information and some good practical advice for the post op period.

Despite the fact that the ward was short staffed during my stay, the nursing staff remained cheerful and professional throughout. My consultant gave clear explanations of the surgery etc. and I was seen by the consultant following my operation and the day after.

The anaesthetist and operating department staff were great in creating a relaxed atmosphere in the nervous time just before my op.

The recovery ward staff were very attentive in making sure I was painfree and comfortable in a very short space of time.

The ward environment was very clean, with a highly visible presence of cleaners throughout the day.

Although I didn't have much of an appetite, the menu choices were very good and the food could not be faulted.

With the exception of one particular nurse, I found the ward team overall to be very caring, reassuring and professional from admission to discharge.

What could be improved

Nothing

Anything else?

Thank you!
