The whole system seems to be a Black Hole into which you fall without emerging. You are given no indication of the waiting time and there is no way of recording periods when it would be difficult/inconvenient for the patient to have surgery. My surgery is relatively minor and the problem is not a major inconvenience at the moment but it does need sorting. However normal life goes on so things like arranging holidays, childminding, visits to relatives and visits by relatives cannot stop when there is no knowledge of a likely date. I am currently in the system but I know not where. A few years ago the system had a remarkable sixth sense about my personal life and was able to hit me with offers of appointments at key periods when I was not easily available, and miss the periods of months on end when treatment could have taken place. The end result was a wait of nearly two years and a threat that if I did not attend as told I would be dumped. Fortunately this hit a period of several free months and I survrived. After four months since my latest pre-op assessment I have heard nothing and am in limbo. I am fearful that I am going to lose out to the system again. I have not kept a date record but I think about eight months have already elapsed, I have attended the outpatient appointment, I have attended the pre-op appointment and I am STUCK.
