"Kidney Unit"

About: Royal Hampshire County Hospital

Referred from York after emergency admission for a septic kidney whilst on a break . York Hospital were outstanding and I would highly recommend The Head of the Kidney unit in Winchester was appalling. Dont visit unless you have to. I was an emergency referrakl to my hometown in Winchester and had to continually chase an appt even after my details and treatment were sent across to Winchester after 9 days in York as an emergency They had no interest in my referral and I spent over 2 months with a tube sewn in me, on over 15 pills a day and his view was I was strong enough to cope! My GP spent months chasing appointments, writing and phoning on my behalf York even wrote to me and offered me treatment there. York recommended a treatment plan that Winchester disagreed with. I feel for the nurses who clearly have no support. The Head of the unit only attends a couple of mornings a week and dont even try to get past his secreatry. She clearly needs some Customer Service skills. I wouldnt go there ever again unless it was an emergency.
