"leaving!!"

About: Peterborough District Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

leaving!!

What could be improved

staff could have been more helpful and considerate of their patients needs and requirements.

Anything else?

my mother was recently treated at PDH after an accident she was x-rayed and given butterfly stiches to her head then sent home she was offered no pain relief. When i picked her up blood was still pumping out of the large gash in her head and she was in extreme pain.I took her back in and explained she was in a lot of pain and blood was still pumping out of her head had to be booked back in and sit for over an hour.Sees another doctor who sends her for another x-ray after another hour of just sitting in a cubical did not explain why we were sat there. After being x-rayed she was told the original x-ray did show a fracture.sat in another room for half an hour to get plastered asked for pain medication and had to go and ask again after 20 mins as had not recieved any.Request had been placed in a nurses draw apparently. Finally she was given medication i had to place the tablets in her mouth as she could not hold anything as one arm was getting plastered and the other was badly sprained and very swollen she could not move it.Yet they went to get her to hold it!!.My mum then had to have the butterfly stiches removed and have the gash glued. Why was this not done first time around and why was she sent home first time with a fractured arm. I have no faith in this hospital as it is not the first time they have made mistakes! I was totally disgusted at the way my mum was left to suffer shaking because of the pain she was in yet she was offered no pain relief.

The Trust takes the experiences of patients and visitors to our hospitals very seriously and we aim to provide a safe, caring and effective service. However, we do recognise there are occasions when an experience may not have met the expectations of our patients or visitors and we are keen to understand how we cam make things better.

To help us continually improve our services for current and future patients and visitors we need feedback and are happy to look into any matter where a patient or visitor is disappointed with the service they received.

This feedback has been forwarded to the relevant department to look into in further detail. Please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 01733 875847 or email pals@pbh-tr.nhs.uk who will provide help and advice regarding any issue.

Thank you for visiting NHS Choices.
